I’ve never been to Jersey. It’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go though. It apparently has some of the cleanest beaches, clearest waters and mildest climates in the British Isles. Sounds pretty cool huh?! So any products inspired from over there you think would be great wouldn’t you? Well they are. Sesacape has been created using locally sourced ingredients, you know the beekeepers name (Francois Le Luyer by the way) where the honey comes from, and their promise to keeping the products nasty free is what we love. I can also vouch for the greatness of the hair and body range because I currently use their body wash, shampoo & conditioner. It’s the best I’ve found on the natural market and it still gives me that soft silky feeling after washing my hair. I love it. So I wanted to chat to the founder, Stuart MacTavish to discover why he created Seascape, what the plans were and what his skincare tips for us were too!
What is Seascape and why did you set it up?
Seacscape is a very simple but effective collection of bath and body products for the whole family to enjoy. Our formulation are as natural as you will find in the marketplace, our prices are very reasonable for the quality formulations our customers get, and our products do what they are supposed to do. Seascape was created as we believed customers were looking for a one-stop, natural, reasonably priced toiletries for the whole family that represented the UK and product quality of the highest levels.
Why should people choose natural/organic beauty products?
As science becomes more sophisticated, we are discovering more and more things that are good for us and not good for us. And as we have more and more choice in front of us, more people are choosing to use products that are as safe as they can be for themselves and their families. Seascape ticks all those boxes and more and at a reasonable price.
What advice would you give to people who are new to natural/organic beauty?
Try to understand the basics i.e. What are the “big” ingredients to stay away from – parabens, SLS, artificial this and that. It is also important to know what your skin and body might have negatively reacted to in the past in terms of ingredients and those elements as well. Finally there is so much information available now on the internet that anybody can quickly find information as to what to stay away from and more importantly what to use.
Do you have a daily beauty routine, and if so, could you share it with us?
Keep it simple in terms of trying to eat right, exercise and get lots of sleep!
What is the best piece of beauty advice you have ever been given?
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
What are your top 3 favourite beauty products?
Seascape – of course! Our award winning soothe sleep oils is a truly great product. We get great feedback on this and our uplift sea salt scrub smells delicious and leaves a great finish on ones skin. Finally I really like what our next new product will be! We have several under development and I can’t wait to introduce it into the marketplace to all our customers, whenever that will be.
Can you share some top tips on glowing from the inside (Wellness) and out (skincare & cosmetics)?
As mentioned before, eating well is the key, as well as exercise and sleep. I also truly believe that one has to have a positive outlook on like as being negative can be very draining. Very often I say to myself that “if that’s going to be my biggest problem today, I think I’m in pretty good shape”.
What is the most exciting beauty invention you have seen this year?
I recently saw this simple little plastic gizmo that you hold between your knees while you are doing your nails. It has “teeth” to hold the nail varnish in place while you apply your varnish. Very neat.
What are your plans for Seascape in the future?
We are pursuing a number of brand development plans that overs a wide range of opportunities, specifically in terms of new product development, international expansion, perhaps getting on board with cruise ships and even creating a hotel amenities scollection. Those who try our products love them and so we want to reach more and more customers with new and different products, in new and different locations. They sky is the limit, really.
