What is your blog and why did you set it up?
My blog is my creative outlet. I love writing and sharing information and the blog is the perfect way to do that. A few years ago I discovered a lot of natural, DIY alternatives that worked really well which I raved about to my friends. They all wanted to know more so I found myself sending out lots of emails with recipe details and product links, one day it just made sense to put them onto a blog instead… and people other than my immediate friends started reading!
Why should people choose natural/organic beauty products?
They work better – simple as that! I find that when you go back to basics, strip everything down, take out the preservatives and the fillers you are left with something pure, potent and really effective. Not only that but we have no idea about the long term effects of using a cocktail of chemicals on our skin.
What advice would you give to people who are new to natural/organic beauty?
Don’t be scared by the higher prices. You can find affordable natural options but also you need to remember that the cheaper, main stream products are filled with ingredients that add nothing to the effectiveness of the product. Yes, organic and natural often carry a slightly higher price tag but they normally are much higher quality and potency.
Also, oils are your friend, learn to love them and don’t be frightened of them!
Do you have a daily beauty routine, and if so, could you share it with us?
I do… but it’s very basic for a ‘beauty blogger’. I wash my face with with honey, I spray a little bit of toner or rose water then I use an oil to moisturise… that’s about it! I like to use a cleansing oil or a balm to take my make up off at night, sometimes using toner and oil again afterwards.
What is the best piece of beauty advice you have ever been given?
Less is more.
What are your top 3 favourite beauty products?
That’s tough! I’ll give general rather than specific answers:
- Oils
- Honey
- Rose water
Can you share some top tips on glowing from the inside and out?
Inside – be happy with yourself and love yourself, it will shine through. Get lots of sleep and drink as much water as possible (take your own advice Rachel!!)
Outside – Keep it simple, a great product will often have 5 ingredients or less. Try to find what works then stick with it, try to minimise disruption by not chopping and changing all the time.
What is the most exciting beauty invention you have seen this year?
Ooh! That’s really tough too! I am not sure, I don’t know that I can answer that one!
Why did you decide to set up GGG?
There isn’t really anything like it for us Green Bloggers… we are all such good friends ‘online’ so I wanted to work with Jen and Sarah to bring us all together in person!
What are you most looking forward to about GGG?
Meeting everyone – peoples, brands, etc. I can’t wait to hear our experts talk, I will be soaking up every drop of information I possibly can… also I cannot WAIT to get my hands on all the products to try them out and play with them!
Sentences to finish.
I love natural beauty products because… it has changed my skin for the better.
If I could tell my 20 something self, one piece of beauty advice, it would be… drink plenty of water!
My favourite beauty quote is… “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly… if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” – Roald Dahl
My favourite beauty resource is… youtube!
To relax I… zone out in front of the TV. (I wish I could say something cooler, like Yoga or Meditation but it just wouldn’t be true! Just keeping it real folks!)
Awh, what a fabulous little interview! You can check out Rachel’s blog here. What an amazing glow getter.
