Mascaras. My desert island product. I just don’t know what I would do without them. They make my eyes pop, look like I’ve had 8 hours sleep every night (even when I haven’t) and make me feel like I can take on the world, with just a few coats. So I thought I would do a round up of the latest mascaras I have been testing, what I love, not so love and what I would recommend.
NB: I have HIGH expectations when it comes to mascaras, I want volume and length and DRAMA (only on my eyelashes, not in my life thanks very much). So without further ado, here is my review (YES, I LOVE a rhyming sentence!).
Benecos mascara – Don’t forget to check out my interview with the Benecos founder here >> Benecos natural mascara multi effect is £6.95, I like the brush head, it gives a natural look but is buildable. A lovely starter mascara if you’re new to makeup and don’t want a dramatic look.
Living nature thickening mascara – £21.00 – This is a lovely mascara for giving length and a bit of thickness. Thinner brush but again a nice product if you want a natural look. Bit more expensive than Benecos so maybe start with that one first and move onto this one.
Jane Iredale longest lash thickening mascara – £26.00* – I really like this mascara. It gives me more of a dramatic look and gives me more of the volume and drama I’m looking for. The only downside is it keeps smudging throughout the day underneath my eyes making me look more panda than POW. I like it more than the other two but just keep some foundation or concelear on hand if you’re going to buy it!
Kajer Weis Mascara – £32 – I started off being REALLY disappointed with this mascara, it wasn’t giving me anything in terms of volume or length really. So I left it for about 6 weeks, tried it, kept being disasspointed. Then all of a sudden it started working really well. It was buildable, was giving me length and giving me a bit more volume too. I actually use this as my day mascara now and I really like it.
Tropic Lash Extension Kit– £25 – OMG, this is the bees knees of mascaras. This gives me EVERYTHING I want and more. It’s literally the best mascara I’ve ever used and gives Giorgio Armani a run for its money. I guess the only downside here is it takes more time to put it on because you have to apply the legthening mascara first and then the lash extension fibres and then the mascara again, but if you don’t mind spending about 3 minutes longer doing your eyes then you won’t regret it. I’ve had SO many compliments on how long my eyelashes were after using it and it washes off in little balls when taking your make up off rather than smearing all across your face which is a bonus. Trust me. Best. Purchase. Ever.
