Lily Lolo – the makeup brand you need to know about.

If you know anything about me and by now, it’s that I lurve makeup. Like, seriously love it. It’s fun, diverse and if you don’t like it, then you can wash it off! What I love even more about it, is the transformational effect it can have on women’s confidence. When I used to volunteer at Look Good Feel Better, women who had cancer that had lost their hair, eyebrows and eyelashes would come in, nervous, quiet and a little lost, and by the time they left, having spent two hours learning how to do their makeup to help give them some confidence and forget about the “C” word for a bit, gives me chills every time I think about it. So yes, I really do love makeup. So, I really wanted to get to spend a little bit of time with an amazingly inspirational lady who creates eye palettes that I’m literally obsessed over, who loves mineral makeup as much as me and who has created an awesome natural makeup line. Introducing, the fabulous Nikki Khan.

What is Lily Lolo and why did you set it up?

Ten years ago, I founded Lily Lolo to bring amazing Mineral makeup to natural beauty devotees everywhere. We’ve come a long way since those early days creating products from home. I started buying mineral makeup from America, and when my friends and I saw the results, I realised there was a big gap in the market for stylish affordable natural makeup. We have built up a brand creating natural makeup that is expertly formulated range of high-performance, high quality mineral makeup must-haves to help you achieve flawless natural beauty.

Why should people choose natural/organic beauty products?

Lily Lolo’s mineral products don’t contain talc, corn starch or any other fillers which can dry out the skin and give a ‘powdery look’.  Our products are also free of Bismuth Oxychloride which is commonly known as a skin irritant.  Personally, I just feel better about choosing something more natural although I use a mix of beauty products and they’re not all natural or organic.

What advice would you give to people who are new to natural/organic beauty?

I’d say there’s no need to go all out, like anything, small improvements can really make a difference. Have a look at our website and read blogs and reviews about the products. A lot of our customers come back to us after their first purchase and say they can’t believe how much their skin has improved. Some of the ingredients even have healing and antibacterial properties.

Do you have a daily beauty routine, and if so, could you share it with us?

I always start my daily makeup routine with a good quality moisturiser and let it fully absorb into my skin. Because I suffer from slightly dry skin I always apply our BB cream underneath my foundation, I find this helps with even application and a more radiant finish. I don’t spend a long time applying my makeup on a day to day basis, just add a neutral shade of eye shadow, mascara and little pressed bronzer on my cheeks. If I am going to an event and want a more dramatic look, I will always apply my eye makeup before foundation to stop any fall out and sweep a little finishing powder on my t-zone.

What is the best piece of beauty advice you have ever been given?

Keep your face out of the sun.  When I was training to be a beauty therapist, we were constantly told to protect our skin, in particular the face, and not to use sun beds.  That’s advice I’ve stuck to for over 20 years.

What are your top 3 favourite beauty products?

Bioeffect EGF Serum

Lily Lolo Mineral foundation

Dead Sea Magik Salt Brushing

Can you share some top tips on glowing from the inside (Wellness) and out (skincare & cosmetics)?

Drink lots and lots of water, it keeps your skin hydrated and nice and soft.  Also eat lots of plant foods, I try to stick to eating at least one salad that way I know I’ve had at least one meal that’s good for me!  I’ve also recently cut down on caffeine a lot.

Twice a week I give myself a mini facial at home, using exfoliators and face masks. I find this helps my skin glow and prevents it from looking too dry. I never expose my face to the sun and the SPF 15 in or foundation really helps with this.

What is the most exciting beauty invention you have seen this year?

Only yesterday I read about Cover FX’s Custom Cover drops, which are an interesting take on liquid foundation.  I’d like to give them a try.

What are your plans for Lily Lolo in the future?

We are working on lots of exciting new products for next year, some of which are completely new for Lily Lolo. We want to keep growing and getting better and better at what we do.

Sentences to finish.
