How to get the right amount of vitamins and nutrients into our diets

If you’re reading this, then you’ll already have an idea that you want to thrive in your health and wellbeing and not just survive. You want to have an abundance of energy, you want to wake up before your alarm goes off and you want to feel happy, healthy and the best version of you. Sound about right? Thought so. Because that’s what I want for myself. You want to have ALL of the health vibes but it’s sometimes difficult to ensure you’re ticking off all of the RDA’s for your nutrients and to be honest, it can be just another thing that you don’t have time to figure out. Which is where I’ve come up with a little hack for you that’s been working a treat for me!

I first discovered Vega a little while back when I was talking with their fabulous team about the different minerals and vitamins in their protein powders. I was so interested and instantly wanted to know more, because if I could get all the right nutrients to help me feel good for the morning then that was a huge win for me. You see I love smoothies. If you’ve followed me over the last year then you’ll know that I’m a morning smoothie gal. I just love drinking them and having a coffee too, it makes me happy.

So Vega introduced me to their Essentials Nutrient Powder made with real plant-based food ingredients, it had high levels of 16 different nutrients such as iron, B12, vitamin D and calcium, as well as omega 3, flaxseed and pea protein. And I was sold. If I could supercharge my smoothie with all of these yummy ingredients, then why wouldn’t I?! So I gave it a whirl.

The result was a happy Ailish. The smoothie tasted exactly the same (recipe below), the consistency was the same but the nutrient levels had skyrocketed! I was so excited to know I was #livingmybestlife in the morning having used the nutritional powder as part of my smoothie and felt really rather smug. I think I love it so much because it’s plant based, full of goodness and non of the gunk and it tasted good too.

So here is my recipe that I love using each day.

1 banana

2 cups of filtered water

1 scoop Vega nutritonal powder (chocolate or vanilla is fine)

1 handful of spinach

1 teaspoon of almond butter

1 teaspoon honey

Pinch of cinnamon

Pinch of any adaptogens you like (my favourite are Wunder Workshop)

Blend altogether and voila! Your super charged delicious smoothie for the morning.

I’ve recently started incorporating their clean protein into my diet as well after my gym sessions where I’ve been doing weights. It’s been helping me recover so much quicker and I’m a little bit in love with how sleek the grey packaging is! I’d love to know if you have tried Vega before and what you thought! Also what your favourite recipes are as well, I love trying out new ones!
